First series
Belgian euro coins dated 19992007 have the portrait of King Albert II.
Second series
In order to conform to the common guidelines on the design of national faces of coins, Belgium has updated the design of the Belgian national face of euro coins to be produced from 2008. Coins from previous years featuring the old Belgian national face will remain valid.
Third series
In 2014, Belgium introduced the third series of euro coins, which show King Philippe, his royal monogram "FP" and the country code for Belgium, "BE". The mint marks appear on either side of the year of issuance
